The Ellington

Ensuring all generations and ages can access affordable housing in the Northside is a critical goal for the NDG and its partners. Located on Magnolia Street, The Ellington is a 50-unit affordable senior housing development.
Along with developer Drew Schaumber, the City of Spartanburg, the NDG, and the Northside Voyagers worked together to plan and ultimately bring this project to reality.
The Ellington’s 50 units include both 1- and 2-bedroom layouts. Amenities include walk-in closets, laundry room, sun room, gym, and a community clubhouse. The units are available to residents 55 older, with rents starting at $502/ month for a 1-bedroom unit at 60% of AMI (Area Median Income).

With Northside Townhomes, Montgomery Development Group became the first Spartanburg-based developer to invest in the Northside Initiative. The first of a planned phased buildout was completed in 2022 and included 47 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom townhomes, a quarter of qualify as affordable housing.
