Homeownership Opportunities
Village at Creekside
NDG has partnered with developer Rick Quinn to construct up to 35 units for homeownership on the corner of College and Brawley streets. The project will be a mix of brownstones, townhomes, and single-family homes, with 8-10 designated for low- to moderate-income families. 21 additional lots on Manning Street, Farley Street, and Folsom Street have been set aside for single-family homeownership.
Victoria Gardens
80 UNIT TOWNHOME COMMUNITY
Spartanburg Housing completed a full renovation of the property in 2022. Coinciding with the physical rehab, services were expanded to Victoria Gardens families to improve their quality of life while complementing and supporting the broader goals of the Northside Initiative.
Victoria Gardens includes eight one-bedroom units, 26 two-bedroom units, 32 three-bedroom units, eight four-bedroom units, and six five-bedroom units. On-site amenities include a community center, parking, laundry facility, security cameras, computer center, in-unit washer/dryer connections, and a covered, lighted gazebo.
Victoria Gardens was converted to Section 8 Project Base Rental Assistance platform through HUD Rental Demonstration Program (RAD). Its residents pay a maximum of 30% of their gross income for rent.
The property is just minutes from downtown Spartanburg and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, and sits across the street from the Dr. TK Gregg Community Center and the Franklin School.
2022
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is an integral part of adding affordable homeownership options to the Northside. In addition to several Habitat homes constructed before the official launch of the Northside Initiative, Habitat built three homes on North Forest as part of the Brawley Street Model Block redevelopment and completed two homes through a partnership with the Spartanburg Housing Authority’s Youth Build program on Vernon Street
Two additional homes have been completed on North Forest Street, with more planned in the near future.
